Interface IRuntime
interface IRuntime
Extends IStandard
A runtime.
The intent is model language bindings as runtimes via OmniKit
configuration. For example, we might model JavaScript support by
defining a JavaScript runtime factory that could create a runtime
based on configuration of that runtime. The configuration might
describe details of that JavaScript environment: for example,
whether to use the Hermes or V8 engine. We might additionally
configure aspects of the runtime, e.g. default heap size.
The runtime having been created, we use the runtime to create
component loaders, each one having an opportunity to handle a given
component-loading request. For example, we might create a Hermes
JavaScript runtime with a 256MB heap, then configure three
component loaders from that runtime, each of which might look in a
directory for JavaScript files implementing a component.
IPC and RPC subsystems are also “runtimes”. For example, if we
configure OmniKit to find components in a global service registrar,
we model the service registrar as a runtime and a specific service
registrar as a component loader built from that runtime.
