Get Started With Appstore Quality Central

This page provides an introduction on how to use Appstore Quality Central. For a conceptual overview of Appstore Quality Central, see Understanding Appstore Quality Central.

Automated testing

For functional and performance testing of your app, automated testing offers an Amazon Appstore test suite. You can asynchronously run tests on a range of Amazon and non-Amazon devices.

In the Amazon Appstore test suite, performance testing covers key performance indicators (KPIs) for latency metrics. Functional testing in the Appstore test suite includes an acceptance test that verifies app behavior during installation, launch, and exit.

Enter test name. Upload your app to be tested. Select devices. Select test cases.

To use Amazon Appstore automated testing, use the following steps

  1. On the Test Your App tab, enter the test name.

    The test name acts as an identifier for the different set of tests running on your apps. This is a required field.

  2. Upload the app you want to test.

    You can either drag and drop the APK file to the upload box, or your can select the file using the file explorer.

    After uploading the APK, you can see the file details including file name, size, and time of upload. If you want to upload a different APK, remove currently uploaded APK by clicking the X in the corner of the box. Then you can upload a different APK. After the upload completes, a message indicating the upload was successful appears.

  3. Select devices.

    Available device families are Fire Tablet, Fire TV, and Non Amazon Devices. If you want to run tests on only select device families, use the checkboxes to make your selection. When you select a device family, it includes a preselection of individual devices. Currently, you can't select a specific device to run tests on.

    • If you select Fire Tablet, tests are run on Fire tablets with various Fire OS versions. Appstore Quality Central lists test results by different Fire tablets versions.
    • If you select Fire TV, tests are run on Fire TVs with various Fire OS versions. Appstore Quality Central lists test results by different Fire TV versions.
    • If you select Non Amazon devices, tests are run on Android phones and tablets with various versions of Android OS. Appstore Quality Central lists test results by different device variants.
  4. Select test cases.

    Available test cases are Performance and Core Functionality. Use the checkboxes to choose the type of tests you want to run.

    • Performance tests provide KPI details for your app on a variety of devices. The performance section of the test result summary contains the test results. For details, see Performance tests.
    • Core functionality tests provide an acceptance test for your app across a variety of devices. This automated functional suite validates installation, launch, and exit scenarios for your app. The core functionality section of the test result summary contains the test results. You can also access the test logs for debugging.
  5. Click Submit and Run Test.

After you submit your test, the console displays a notification indicating your test was submitted successfully. When the test completes, you receive an email notification. If a failure occurs, you receive a notification to make changes.
